Bonnies compete at the Fordham Invitational

BRONX, N.Y. - The St. Bonaventure men's cross country team posted a 19th place finish, while the women's squad finished in the 20th spot at the Fordham Invitational earlier this afternoon. A pair of Ivy League schools claimed the top spots in Van Cortlandt Park as Pennsylvania finished first overall on the men's side and Princeton was victorious for the women. In their second collegiate meet, freshmen Caitlin Palmer and Jamie Sullivan paced the Bona women. Palmer crossed the line in 96th place with a time of 21:45, just two seconds ahead of her fellow classmate. Sullivan notched a 98th place finish. Rookie Keelan O'Connell (153rd) finished next for the Brown and White with a time of 23:07. Sophomore Ashley Sandau (26:19) and freshmen Tabitha Slachciak (27:15) and Dana Phillips (27:36) completed the side for the women. Junior Justin Isaman finished first for the Bona men for the second straight week as he recorded a time of 31:00, good for 146th place. Just eighteen seconds later, sophomore David Herlihy (31:18) crossed the finish line in 154th place. Sophomore Casey Krug notched a time of 32:12 en route to a 173rd place finish, while freshmen classmates Rob Ryer (33:26) and Jimmy Burton (33:42) along with sophomore Michael Grosso (33:43) finished shortly after.
Freshmen Scott Shelters (34:43), Thomas Rosetti (35:01), Andrew Gaieski (38:46) and senior James Corke (36:02) rounded out the Bona runners. The men's and women's cross country teams will return to action on Friday, Sept. 14, when they travel to South Bend, Ind. to compete in the National Catholic Championship. |
