Bonnies defeat Mercyhurst in fall finale :: Barousse and Martorell post perfect records

ST. BONAVENTURE, N.Y. - Following consecutive victories in a dual match against Niagara, the St. Bonaventure women's tennis team picked up its third straight win with a 4-3 triumph over Mercyhurst Sunday afternoon at the St. Bonaventure outdoor tennis courts.

The Brown and White recorded four victories in singles play and a lone win in doubles led by undefeated performances from freshman Maria Barousse and senior Anna Martorell. The duo paired for the club's only victory in doubles action by defeating Mercyhurst's team of sophomore Elizabeth Mullane and freshman Kelton Macke 8-3 in the final match of the fall.

In fourth singles action, Barousse overpowered sophomore Meghan Raynor 6-0, 6-4, while Martorell defeated Mullane 6-0, 6-3 in fifth singles play.

Senior Ana Delgado was victorious in her third flight singles match 3-6, 6-1, 6-1 and sophomore Vanessa Rumpel defeated Macke 6-1, 6-4 to round out the Bonnies' singles victories.

The Brown and White return to action this spring when the club resumes its schedule at home on February 2 against Cleveland State at 1:00 p.m.
