Women's Soccer Announces 2007 Recruiting Class
St. Bonaventure women's soccer head coach Manoj Khettry announced his first recruiting class on the opening day of the signing period. Eight-student athletes signed National Letters of Intent on Wednesday afternoon. Coach Khettry on his first recruiting class: "I am extremely excited that our first signing class includes young women of such impressive talent and character. As Jaime, Richie and I recreate a culture of excellence and achievement at St. Bonaventure, our recruiting philosophy has been to focus on very specific qualities. We sought after young women with a tireless work ethic, who want to be coached, who want to get better, who come from winning traditions, are excellent students and overachievers in every sense of the word. If you look at the club and high school programs that these players come from, you can see they are all accustomed to competing and winning. We all feel you must not only recruit great players, but great people with the right mentality. Every student-athlete in this class fits that profile. The variety of locales that these young ladies hail from, representing five states shows how hard we worked to find the right people and how our recruiting is broadening its scope. These young ladies are going to compliment our returning players extremely well and are already positively affecting our team's enthusiasm and work ethic this winter."
2007 St. Bonaventure Women's Soccer Signees (8)
POSITION: Forward/Midfield Courtney has played on numerous Club teams in her career, most recently as a member of Dynamo F.C. Indianapolis. In 2006, Dynamo finished their season as MRL Premier League Champions, State Cup Finalists, and as Region II Semi-Finalists. During her high school career she contributed 39 goals, 26 assists, was twice named Offensive MVP ('04 & '05), and to the All-County Team ('05 &'06). In 2006, Courtney was named to the All-District Team and was All-State Honorable Mention. At Brebeuf Jesuit, she was the women's Wendy's High School Heisman nominee and received the Chief's Award for soccer, the school's top athletic honor. In the same year, she was named to the NSCAA All-Region Scholastic Team and Soccer All-State Academic Team. Her 4x4 relay team set the school record and was a state medalist in Track. Courtney is a Presidential Scholar, and chose St. Bonaventure over Texas Tech, Baylor, and Mercer University. She is the daughter of Gregory and Margaret Bosse, and plans to major in Engineering Physics. Coach Khettry about Courtney: "Courtney is a fiery competitor and just the kind of warrior we need up front. Courtney makes us more dangerous immediately; she has a great deal of desire to get behind defenders, to run at them with the ball and will be a threat to score goals. By working with Head Strength and Conditioning Coach Darryn Fiske, she will get stronger, fitter and faster and by being in a college-soccer environment, she is only going to get better. I think Courtney's ceiling, for being a dominant attacking player within the Atlantic 10, is very high. She has a keen sense of how to score and create goals and will challenge to start immediately as a forward and a wide-midfielder."
POSITION: Midfield Sarah is a member of the Lehigh Valley Premier Blue Angles Club, 2005-2006. In the most recent 2006 season they were Jefferson Cup and Columbia Cup Semi-Finalists and also the EPYSA Indoor State Cup Champions. During her High School career, she helped lead her team to a record of 72-4 with her senior year still to play. Emmaus HS went to the 2006 State Quarterfinals, and were 2005 State Finalists. She has contributed 17 Goals and 24 Assists through her first 3 years. In 2006, Emmaus High School was ranked #1 in the nation by the NSCAA, #8 in 2005 and #16 in 2004. Member of the PA East ODP State team 2004, she also holds an E License and coaches U-10 and U-12 girls at Iron Lake Sports Club in Allentown, PA. Sarah chose St. Bonaventure over Lehigh University, US Naval Academy, and Monmouth University. She is the daughter of Lester and Robin Clark, and plans to major in Biology. Coach Khettry about Sarah: "Sarah has great skill and great touch. She is extremely comfortable on the ball and understands how to keep possession as a holding midfielder, how to switch the point of attack and is a very accomplished defensive midfielder. She can play either in the back of midfield or as a central defender and she has the intangibles that make her a great college prospect: she is a winner and wants to be great in everything that she does. Her size and heading ability, as well as her ability to read play will help us on both sides of the ball. I see Sarah developing into a fantastic college soccer player and one of our future leaders."
POSITION: Forward/Midfield Anna is a current teammate of St. Bonaventure newcomer, Marilyn Wargo, and is a five year member of the Michigan Hawks ('03-'07), leading them to four State Championships ('03, '04, '06, '07), the 2006 Regional Semi-Finals, NSR Cup and Raleigh Shootout Championship. Anna chose St. Bonaventure over the Univ. of Louisville, Indiana University, Univ. of Missouri, Oakland University, and Western Michigan. She is the daughter of Michael and Jeanine Cunningham and plans to major in Business. Coach Khettry about Anna: "Anna is skillful and extremely quick when attacking with or without the ball. She has special attacking qualities and is another player who has a knack for scoring goals. Anna has scored big goals in big games against quality opponents. She plays in such a competitive environment (both in Club and in High School) that she is going to add a lot of maturity and presence to our attack. Although she may look slight, Anna has great leaping and heading ability. She is going to threaten defenses, not just with her speed, but with her passing, her ability to move without the ball, to combine with others in the attacking third of the field, as well as individually attacking defenders with the ball. Anna is going to be a big part of our offense for years to come."

She is the daughter of David and Linda Dentino and begins her first year as Undecided in major. Coach Khettry about Jamie: "Jamie is another player who has great skill and shows a great deal of comfort on the ball. She is an outstanding striker of the ball, is able to skillfully combine with others in tight spaces and has a great attacking mentality. Jamie's vision and her ability to spring others with her passing will be relied on as a midfielder. She may see some time up front, as she is an excellent crosser of the ball and has a great mentality to take players on in the attacking third. She is another young woman who comes from a winning background, is a hard worker and is a future leader. Jamie will be another one of our freshman who I see challenging for playing time immediately in a variety of positions."
POSITION: Goalkeeper Nicole has been a member of the Cleveland Internationals since 2003. She helped her team to four consecutive State Finals, including two Championships in 2004 and 2005, as well as winning the Midwest League Championship in 2006. She has terrific qualities as a goalkeeper: she is a great organizer of her defense, fearless on breakaways, has great hands, understands angle-play and is terrific with her feet. She will help us maintain possession and be a great support player for our back four. She has the ability to make big saves and has proven her leadership qualities both at the club and the high school level. Nicole is another member of our recruiting class who has played in competitive arenas and will no doubt bring that experience to Bonas. She will make our goalkeeping core very competitive and is another young woman I see as a future leader on this team for years to come."

Being tall, she will help solidify our defense in the air, especially in dealing with crosses and high balls. One of the intangibles that you can't teach in goalkeeping is courage. Amanda is fearless. The bigger the game, the better Amanda plays. She is a terrific distributor of the ball and is a great competitor. Amanda wants to and expects to win and I have seen her will her team to victory, as well as, keep them in games by making big saves.
