Bonnies fall at Saint Joseph's, 2-0
Oct. 19, 2007
PHILADELPHIA, Pa. - Despite owning an 18-9 shot advantage over Saint Joseph's, the St. Bonaventure women's soccer team dropped a 2-0 decision to the Hawks on Friday night at Finnesy Field. The loss snaps the Bonnies two-game unbeaten streak and drops their record to 4-9-2, 1-5-1, while Saint Joseph's picks up its first victory following 11 straight defeats to improve to 3-12, 1-6. Just over five minutes into the match, the Hawks opened up the scoring when freshman Lauren Sawyer beat freshman goalkeeper Amanda Prestigiacomo on a breakaway at the 5:32 mark. Junior Ashley Bugnar dished out the assist to set up Sawyer's second collegiate goal. Junior Laura Adams tacked on an insurance goal at the 31:14 mark to seal the victory for the Hawks. Adams fired the ball into the upper right corner following a pass from senior Kristie-Anne Hoban for the contest's final score. In spite of doubling the Hawk's shot total, including a 12-4 advantage in the second half, the Brown and White couldn't find the back of the net. Freshman Anna Cunningham led the Bonnies with eight overall shots, while fellow classmate Courtney Bosse tallied five. Sophomore goalkeeper Megan Bastianelli turned away five shots to pick up the shutout. The Bonnies will remain in Philadelphia to take on Temple on Sunday, Oct. 21 at 1:00 p.m.
