Women's soccer earns hard-fought tie with Dayton

Final Stats

ST. BONAVENTURE, N.Y. - The St. Bonaventure women's soccer team concluded its impressive weekend of play by picking up its fourth point in two games, this time with a 0-0 double overtime tie against Atlantic 10 power Dayton on Sunday at McGraw-Jennings Field.

The Flyers came into today's contest in sole possession of first place in the A-10 with 15 points via five wins. The tie is the first of the season for Dayton and just the second time they've been shutout.

Freshman keeper Amanda Prestigiacomo was one of the primary reasons the Flyers were unable to get on the board. The Rochester, N.Y. product made a season-high 10 saves in net, including a sensational diving save midway through the second half to preserve her first career shutout.

With the tie, the Brown and White now have four points and its first conference two-game unbeaten streak since 2004.

"I don't think I've ever been more proud of any team I've coached," said head coach Manoj Khettry. "We played 110 minutes for each other and showed tons of heart. When we talk about turning around a program these are the types of performances that start that. Dayton is the type of program that we strive to be like, but at the same time we can't be satisfied with a tie."

Despite a 20-8 Dayton edge in shots, the Bonnies controlled player for long periods in the game. The Flyers put half of their shots on net, while the Brown and White had to shots on goal.

St. Bonaventure will carry over the momentum from this weekend as it travels to the Philadelphia next weekend for a pair of A-10 tilts. The Bonnies will begin with a 5 p.m. kick-off at Saint Joseph's on Friday, October 19.
