An up-and-coming coach in the Atlantic 10 and in the women's game, Rich Schreiner is entering his second season as assistant coach at St. Bonaventure.

Schreiner was brought on board in the summer of 2006 under newly appointed head coach Manoj Khettry. A native of Indianapolis, Ind., Schreiner serves as the program's recruiting coordinator and assistant summer camp director, and assists with video breakdown and exchange, fitness training and is directly involved with all aspects of practice.

This past off-season, Schreiner helped land the 14th ranked recruiting class in the Northeast Region in a poll conducted by Soccer Buzz. It was the program's first-ever national ranking and the first recruiting class under Khettry.

A relentless worker, he spent the better half of the summer working as an instructor at various camps throughout the U.S., highlighted by stints at the Region I Olympic Development Program camp in Providence, R.I., and the Texas A&M women's soccer camp.

Prior to St. Bonaventure, Schreiner spent three seasons as an assistant coach, including two seasons at Gustavus Adolphus College as the assistant women's soccer coach. There he assisted head coach Mike Stehlik in on the field training, organization of practice and game plans, strength training, recruiting and travel planning.

In 2003-04 he served as the assistant coach at Carroll College where he helped orchestrate the Saints to an 11-6-1 record in the fall, a seven-game improvement from the 2002 season. At Carroll College, Schreiner assisted head coach Mark Hiemenz in all aspects, focusing on technical training sessions and working with the offense. Under his supervision, Carroll's Joelle Laffey became the school's first women's soccer All-American.

A 2003 graduate of DePauw University, Schreiner earned a bachelor's degree in psychology. During his four-year stay in Greencastle, Indiana, he was a four-year letterwinner on the men's soccer team. As team captain his senior year (2002), Schreiner was named to the SCAC first team and the All-Mideast second team. Over his four seasons, he led the Tigers to a record of 57-15-3 - the best four-year mark in school history.

What they're saying about Schreiner:

-"Richie Schreiner is a great teacher who I have worked with many times. He will bring passion to teach, an un-dying work-ethic, and a dynamic soccer mind to the Bona women's soccer program. There is no doubt in my mind that he will have an immediate impact working with old friend, and a great head coach Manoj Khettry. The combination of coach Khettry and coach Schreiner working together is exciting to me and something the women's players at St. Bonaventure will no doubt benefit from and enjoy!" - Brian Jaworski, Grinnell College Men's Soccer Coach

-"Richie Shriner is one of the great rising coaching talents in the country. His enthusiasm, energy and commitment to the game and his players makes him an invaluable member of any team." - Bobby Kramig, Miami of Ohio Women's Soccer Coach

-"I have known Richie since he was 8 years old. It has been my pleasure to see him grow through the soccer ranks from being a youth player, a successful college player, to now being a Division 1 college coach. I feel so fortunate to have someone, who I not only consider to be part of my extended family, but a young man who is bright, passionate, hard-working and committed as a part of my staff. Richie makes this program better everyday and any success that we achieve will be in some part be through his efforts and his passion. I know he will be a great Head Coach someday!" - Manoj Khettry, St. Bonaventure Women's Soccer Coach
