Student-Athlete Spotlight - Dec. 16

Talk a little about your feelings on having the best start in program history...how does it feel to be 5-0?
PE: It feels good. All of our hard work that we've put in the past two years is starting to pay off now. We have a good chemistry going and everyone is contributing during this run.

You're the team's second-leading scorer at 11.5 points per game. How has your role changed from last season to this season?
PE: My role hasn't changed a whole lot. I just have more of an opportunity to play my game. I'm more mature than last year, so things like scoring and rebounding come a lot more easily.

Talk a little about your expectations for this team...how do you continue this momentum to carry into A-10 play?
PE: Right now we're not playing our best basketball. We still want to reach our potential over the rest of the non-conference schedule and then carry that into A-10 play. We just need to do what we do and keep playing our game and we'll be ok.

In your win vs. Niagara the student crowd was out and loud. How much does it inspire the team knowing the home crowd is cheering you on?
PE: We've really been active in trying to get people at the games because having a good crowd out there really motivates us to play well. Fan support is always a plus and it makes you feel good.

This team has done a lot to build unity on and off the court, how much do you owe that to your early season success?
PE: It's all about chemistry. Last year most of us were newcomers and we didn't really know each other well enough. Now that we've had that whole season and this summer to really get to know each other the chemistry that we've built is starting to pay off.

You hail from Harlem, how has your background transposed into your game as a starting point guard? How has St. Bonaventure changed your game?
PE: Being from New York has influenced my game. Harlem is a place known for having tough people overall that have to deal with adversity everyday. St. Bonaventure hasn't really changed my game or attitude at all. I'm at a place that is totally different from home, but I've stayed true to who I am and it's paying off.

What are your individual goals for this season as well as continuing your college career?
PE: To keep working hard and help lead this team. I'd like to be All-Conference or most improved player so that I can help make a name for St. Bonaventure to let people know that we are for real this time around.

How did you get your nickname "Snake"?
PE: Playing in the city you play on playgrounds everyday and people don't care what your name is. There are announcers at your games at the Rucker or the Kingdome and they'll say whatever comes to mind when they watch you play. I was always the skinny girl who use to find her way into the lane and it seemed like I slithered into the lane. One day my coach started calling me Snake and it's stuck with me ever since.

You are a DJ at the Rathskeller on Saturday nights...Which would you rather do, play professional basketball or produce music?
PE: Maybe play professional basketball half of the year and DJ the other half. I like to put my hands into everything so if I could do both that would be great
