Bonnies compete at Atlantic 10 Championship

PITTSBURGH, Pa. - The St. Bonaventure men's and women's cross country teams capped their 2006 season with a 14th place finish at the Atlantic 10 Championship on Saturday morning at Schenley Park in Pittsburgh. La Salle took home the team title in both the men's and women's team titles thanks to first place finishes by Sean Quigley and Rachel Papin. Quigley won the men's race with a time of 24:39, while Papin's time of 17:41 was tops among the women. Senior Andrew Shulha capped his four-year career by leading the Bonnies across the 8k course in a time of 28:51 to finish in 91st place. Just under a minute later, sophomore Justin Isaman sprinted across the finish line with a time of 29:42, good for 136th position. Freshman David Herily, senior Matthew Wilber and sophomore Grant Lytle finished off the Bonnies five-man lineup with times of 30:15, 31:53 and 34:28, respectively. On the women's side, it was the freshmen combination of Sarah Popovics and Michelle Damcott leading the way. Popovics was the first lady Bonnies to finish, as she posted at time of 20:58 to take 108th place. Damcott raced through the 5k course in 21:58 to take 122nd place. Seniors Sarah Dressler, Jesica Hendrick, Margaret Kubiak and Mary Harruff all competed in their final race in the Brown and White. Dressler and Hendrick were the 3rd and 4th runners to finish for the Bonnies, while freshman Lauren Wentworth rounded out the Bona top 5.
