Cross Country begins season at Duquesne

PITTSBURGH, Pa. - The St. Bonaventure men's and women's cross country teams opened the season with seventh place finishes at the Duquesne Duals earlier this afternoon.

In the year's opening meet, host Duquesne took the top spot on the men's side, while Pittsburgh finished first for the women.

The Bona men were paced by veteran junior Justin Isaman, who placed 52nd overall with a time of 29:11. A pair of Bonnies crossed the finish line seconds later as sophomore Casey Krug and freshman Rob Ryer posted times of 29:50 and 29:59, respectively.

Sophomore David Herlihy notched a time of 30:40 en route to a 72nd place finish while classmate Michael Grosso ran in at 31:54.

Freshmen Thomas Rosetti (32:51), Jimmy Burton (33:07), Scott Shelters (33:48) and senior James Corke (34:11) rounded out the Bona runners.

In her collegiate debut, freshman Caitlin Palmer finished 24th overall with a time of 20:28 to lead the Brown and White. Fellow classmates Jamie Sullivan (37th) and Keelan O'Connell (47th) came in next for the Bonnies, recording times of 21:10 and 22:16, respectively.
 

 

Sophomore Ashley Sandau (23:53) and senior Tabitha Slachciak (25:00) completed the side for the Bonnies.

The men's and women's cross country teams will be in action again on Saturday, Sept. 8 at the Fordham Invitational in the Bronx, N.Y.
