Bonnies retain Little Three trophy

GRAND ISLAND, N.Y. - St. Bonaventure retained the Little Three trophy with a six-shot victory over Canisius on Tuesday at River Oaks Country Club on Grand Island.

The Bonnies shot a four-man score of 302 (+14) to win the Little Three for the second year in a row. Canisius finished at 308 while Niagara was third with 312.

Sophomore Andy Whalen led St. Bonaventure with a two-over par 74. The Bonnies used three more scores in the mid-seventies to pace their win: junior Ben Howe carded a 75, sophomore Ryan Swanson shot 76 and sophomore Norm Strotman shot 77.

Jeff Bagley of Canisius was the medalist of the day with a two-under 70.

The Bonnies will return to tournament action this weekend, Sept. 24-25, at the Cornell Fall Invitational.
