Bonnies finish third at Lafayette Invitational

April 9, 2006

EASTON, Pa. - Led by senior Josh Anderson, the St. Bonaventure golf team finished third out of a field of 20 teams at the Lafayette College Spring Invitational, which was contested on Sunday at Center Valley Golf Club.

The Bonnies shot 305. Siena College won the tournament with a score of 300 followed by Saint Francis (Pa.) at 303. Delaware and Niagara tied for fourth place one shot back of the Bonnies at 306.

Rain washed out Saturday's first round, shortening the tournament to 18 holes.

Anderson shot an even par 72 to finish in second place in the field of 102 players. Duquesne's Drew Ellis won the medalist crown with a one-under par 71.

Sophomore Ryan Swanson finished at four-over par 76 for the Bonnies. Freshman Brennan Payne shot 78, sophomore Andy Whalen carded a 79, and junior Ben Howe shot 82.

St. Bonaventure's next tournament will be the Navy Spring Invitational, which starts on Friday.
