March 4, 2008

ST. BONAVENTURE, N.Y. - St. Bonaventure men's basketball senior forward Michael Lee has been named to the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) District II second team, it was announced on Tuesday.

Lee is having by far his best season in the Brown and White under first year head coach Mark Schmidt. Lee has set career-bests in nearly every statistical category in his final campaign and ranks in the top 10 in the Atlantic 10 in 11 different categories.

The West Palm Beach, Fla. native leads the team in scoring (17.4), rebounding (8.0), field goal percentage (.488) and steals (42) with two games remaining. Lee has finished in double figures in 23 games this season, including 15 games of 20 or more points, and has led St. Bonaventure in scoring on 17 occasions. Lee has also dedicated himself to the glass evident by his 16 games as the team's leading rebounder and career-high nine double-doubles. Lee's most impressive stat maybe that he's gone the full 40 minutes in nine games this season and averages nearly 37 minutes played per game.

Earlier this season, Lee became the 21st member in program history of the 1,000-point and 500-rebound club. Lee's impressive four-year resume also features the 18th spot on the all-time scoring list (1,388) and the 13th position on the rebounding charts (669). Lee has also accumulated 89 career starts, 69 double-digit scoring games and 16 double-doubles.

Lee and 10 other players from the Atlantic 10 were apart of the 150 student-athletes from 15 districts who earned All-District honors. The 150 student-athletes are now eligible for the State Farm Division I All-America teams, which will be announced on April 5 at the NABC Convention in San Antonio.

Lee's home career will culminate on Wednesday night as the Bonnies welcome Dayton to the Reilly Center. Lee along with seniors Zarryon Fereti and Tyler Relph will be honored prior to the 7 p.m. tip.
