ST. BONAVENTURE, N.Y. -
St. Bonaventure junior Jim Britton has been named the Atlantic 10 baseball Co-Pitcher of the Week for the period ending March 24, after dealing one of the best games of his collegiate career.
On Thursday in the team's A-10 opener at Fordham, Britton hurled an eight-inning gem to lead the Bonnies to a 4-0 win. The 6-foot-4 righty struck out a career-high 10 batters and allowed just two hits while walking none in the win. Britton retired the side in order five times and had a streak of 11 straight outs during the game.
Britton's win propelled the Brown and White to 2-1 series win over Fordham, who was picked to finish fifth in the preseason Atlantic 10 poll. Britton is now 2-1 on the year with a team-high 25 strikeouts in just 24 innings of work.
Britton and the Bonnies will be back in action this weekend as they travel to Pittsburgh to take on Duquesne. The three-game A-10 series will begin on Friday, March 28 at 3 p.m.
